Beth Sturdevant - Cellist

Beth Sturdevant is an accomplished and versatile cellist whose musical journey spans classical performance, Broadway theatre, chamber music, and collaborations with some of the world’s most iconic artists.  With a career rooted in both technical mastery and emotional depth, Beth’s playing is known for its rich tone, expressive power, and ability to move effortlessly between genres.

Beth has made significant contributions to the world of musical theatre, performing in the Tony Award winning (2006 Best Revival) Broadway production of The Pajama Game starring Harry Connick Jr. and Kelli O’Hara (New York City), as well as in Oliver!, The Sound of Music, and Anne & Gilbert with the National Arts Centre English Theatre in Ottawa. Beth was also part of the year-long U.S. national tour of Disney’s On The Record, bringing her sound to audiences across the country.

 

Her performance career has brought her onto some of the world’s most exciting stages, including the Toronto Jazz Festival with Harry Connick Jr., and Barbra Streisand’s 2006 North American tour. Beth has also shared the stage with internationally renowned artists such as Hoobastank, Il Divo, Train, and The Eagles - demonstrating her remarkable versatility and ability to bring the cello into dynamic contemporary settings.

Beyond the concert hall and stage, Beth is deeply passionate about the sacred role of music in ceremonies. She brings the soulful resonance of the cello into sacred spaces, offering sound as a form of harmony and connection. Whether performing in large venues or intimate events, Beth’s intention remains the same: to offer music as a bridge - between emotion and expression, between the individual and the collective, between the physical and the spiritual.

With a career that continues to evolve, Beth Sturdevant stands as an artist devoted not only to excellence in performance, but to the profound, timeless power of sound itself.

San Francisco Conservatory of Music

Bachelor of Music, Cum Laude. A Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance is a specialized degree that develops advanced technical skill, artistic expression, and professional musicianship through intensive training, study, and performance on the cello.

1996 - 1999

Eastman School of Music

Beth spent her first three years of University at the Eastman School of Music immersed in rigorous cello performance training—refining her technique, deepening her artistry, and laying the professional foundation for her Bachelor of Music degree.

1995 - 1996

Interlochen Arts Academy

Beth completed her final year of high school at the prestigious, world-renowned Interlochen Arts Academy, where she studied cello performance at an advanced, pre-professional level among elite young artists from around the globe.
